An Alignment of Vision

Embodying its name, Fairgreen International School is an exemplar of sustainable education. Based in Dubai's Sustainable City, this school seamlessly integrates sustainability across all facets of school life, reinforcing its mission of creating global citizens who are conscious of their impact on the world.

In 2022, Kapes was thrilled to partner with Fairgreen, aligning our mutual commitment to environmental responsibility and innovative education.

Reimagining the School Uniform

Prior to our collaboration, the school's uniforms were constructed from traditional materials like virgin polyester and nylon. Acknowledging the environmental toll of these materials, we recognized an opportunity to create a more sustainable and ethically conscious alternative.

Our answer was a complete transformation of the Fairgreen school uniform, swapping out synthetic materials for organic cotton and recycled polyester. Our organic cotton, grown without the use of harmful pesticides and with significantly less water, offered a more sustainable and equally durable alternative. Furthermore, our recycled polyester, made from post-consumer plastic bottles, circumvented the need for new plastics in our production process, perfectly aligning with Fairgreen's mission of minimizing waste.

A Broader Impact

As part of our partnership with Fairgreen, we sought not only to provide sustainable uniform options, but also to foster a greater understanding and appreciation for the environment. In the spirit of inclusivity and breaking down barriers to education, in the 2023/24 academic year we will be donating free uniforms to the students in Kenya. This initiative, resonating with Fairgreen's ethos, demonstrated that sustainable practices have real-world, positive impacts on communities.

Offsetting Carbon Impact

Additionally, Kapes offsets the carbon impact of each uniform sold by investing in carbon credits from the Wildlife Works REDD+ project, further diminishing the carbon footprint of Fairgreen's uniforms.

Looking Ahead: Camp Kapes

Looking forward to the 2023/24 academic year, we're excited for Fairgreen's participation in our inaugural Camp Kapes. This immersive, hands-on experience in Kenya will offer Fairgreen students an invaluable opportunity to engage with sustainability in a direct, meaningful way.
