Our Materials
The quality of our uniforms at Kapes begins at the source with the selection of sustainable, earth-friendly materials. Our mission is to create uniforms that are not only built to last but also respectful to our environment. Let's delve deeper into the materials we champion for a sustainable future.
Organic Cotton
Our commitment to sustainability starts with the basics - the cotton we use. We opt for organic cotton, a truly revolutionary material. Compared to conventionally farmed cotton, it uses significantly less water and energy and produces fewer CO2
emissions. Moreover, it eliminates the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and harmful pesticides. Choosing organic cotton is not only good for the earth; it also ensures our uniforms are hypoallergenic, breathable, and incredibly soft to the touch.

Organic cotton farming doesn't use synthetic fertilizers and pesticides? This not only helps to maintain soil health but also prevents water contamination, making it a win-win for our uniforms and the environment!
Wood
The life of a Kapes garment starts in the forest. But don't worry, we only use sustainably sourced wood pulp to craft our fabrics. By harnessing this renewable resource, we're doing our part to protect our planet's trees and ecosystems. It's then transformed into a beautiful fabric called Lyocell, which gives our uniforms a soft, breathable, and durable quality, perfect for every child's daily activities.
Did you know?
Recycled polyester still releases microplastics into the environment and once a plastic bottle is turned into a piece of clothing, it is destined for landfill. Although we use recycled bottles to add durability to our clothing, we try to minimise its use. Be mindful of suppliers boasting about the eco-friendly credentials of recycled polyester.
Recycled Bottles
Who would have thought that an old plastic bottle could become part of your child's school uniform? At Kapes, we give plastic a second life by recycling it into our polyester fabrics. This not only keeps plastic out of our oceans and landfills but also reduces the need for virgin materials in our production.
