At Kapes, we're all about reducing our carbon footprint.
To stay true to this goal, we measure our impact and don't shy away from sharing our results. Our emission tracking spans across five areas. You can check out the details here.
What’s in a Carbon Footprint?
-
Materials
Our fabric choice? We rely heavily on natural and recycled materials in our products, nudging this category from potentially the highest to the lowest on our emission scale.
-
Manufacturing
Making stuff needs energy, but it doesn't have to cost the earth. By teaming up with partners who are willing to embrace our sustainable vision, we are working with them to introduce efficient manufacturing practices, to allow us to chip away at this part of our footprint.
-
Transportation
From factory to distribution centre, from distribution centre to your doorsteps, even returns or exchanges - each step adds to the carbon footprint. We're actively seeking ways to make this journey as green as possible.
-
Product Use
Even uniforms need a little TLC now and then. While our products can withstand machine washing, we encourage washing on cold and air drying. It's a simple way to reduce your carbon footprint and extend the life of your Kapes uniform.
-
End Of Life
Sadly, most uniforms eventually end up in a landfill, releasing greenhouse gases as they decompose. We don't like this, and we're working hard to find a better way to say goodbye to our uniforms.
How We Measure?
We believe in transparency and accuracy. That's why we follow the globally recognized Greenhouse Gas Protocol to calculate our carbon footprint. This involves breaking down our emissions into Scope 1, 2, and 3.
-
Scope 1
Covers direct emissions from owned or controlled sources, like our company vehicles.
-
Scope 2
deals with indirect emissions from the generation of purchased electricity, steam, heating, and cooling consumed by us
-
Scope 3
Finally, includes all other indirect emissions occurring in our value chain, such as from our suppliers or from the end use of our uniforms.
After assessing these categories, we're able to determine our total carbon footprint, allowing us to devise effective strategies for reduction and offsetting. It's a journey, but one we're committed to, because we believe in a greener future.
